Types Of Information That We Distribute

Docusearch distributes public records, publicly-available information and non-public information. These terms refer to the source of the information.

  • Public Records are compiled by various public offices and agencies with the intent and for the purpose of being publicly available. Examples of public records include real estate records, lien filings, corporate records, lawsuit information and birth, marriage, divorce and death records.
  • Publicly Available Information generally originates with the individual himself or herself and is provided in the course of routine business transactions such as ordering telephone service, placing catalog orders, making retail transactions, and joining book clubs. Published telephone numbers, household demographics, street addresses and alumni directory information all fall into this category. Information contained in newspaper and magazines and on the Internet are also considered to be publicly available.
  • Private or Non-Public Information is not generally available from public records or commercial sources.

It's important to note that the status of information depends on the information's source. A certain piece of information may be a matter of public record as well as publicly available and non-public. For example, your home address may be contained in a public record (such as the deed to your property that is on file in your county's assessors office.) Your address may be publicly available from your local telephone directory, and your address may be contained in a non-public database, such as a credit bureau database.

Many people incorrectly believe that some information, such as Social Security numbers or mothers' maiden name, are always non-public. This is not true. For example, while individuals may believe generally that their mother's maiden name is a "private" fact (and while credit grantors may treat this data as private or secure), birth records are public in every state. Since birth records typically contain the maiden name of the maternal parent, the information is not only private, it's public record. Similarly, Social Security numbers are often included in public records, such as lawsuit filings, drivers records and bankruptcy records.

Non-Public Data Available From Docusearch

Docusearch distributes non-public individual identifying information on adult individuals in accordance with our regulated private investigators license as defined below.

Definition - The investigation by a person or persons for the purpose of obtaining information with reference to any of the following matters:

  1. Crimes or wrongs done or threatened against the United States or any state or territory of the United States, when operating under express written authority of the governmental official responsible for authorizing such investigation.
  2. The identity, habits, conduct, movements, whereabouts, affiliations, associations, transactions, reputation or character of any society, person or group of persons.
  3. The credibility of witnesses or other persons.
  4. The whereabouts of missing persons, owners of abandoned property or eschewed property, or heirs to estates.
  5. The location or recovery of lost or stolen property.
  6. The causes and origin of, or responsibility for fires, libels, slanders, losses, accidents, damage, or injuries to real or personal property.
  7. The business of securing evidence to be used before investigation committees or boards of award or arbitration or in the trial of civil or criminal cases and in preparation thereof.

Docusearch does not obtain any non-public credit information from credit reporting agencies or any other sources. Additionally, Docusearch does not distribute any non-public information about children or any information that was collected solely for marketing purposes.

Opting Out

You cannot opt out our having your information distributed by Docusearch. Public records, by law, must be available from the official public records office to anyone who requests them. Accordingly, because individuals cannot opt out of public records databases, we do not offer individuals the opportunity to opt out of our public records databases. In order for any database of public records to be useful, the databases must contain all the information in the public records office, and we do not remove or suppress any information that is both accurate and publicly available. Additionally, our service is used by investigators, law enforcement agents and lawyers who are trying to locate criminal, debtors and other bad actors. Accordingly, it would defeat the purpose of our service if we gave these types of individuals the ability to opt out of being found.

Client Confidentiality

Because your privacy is important to us, Docusearch operates by these principles:

  • Personal Information. We explicitly ask when we need information that personally identifies you. Personal Information may be needed to provide unique services specific to your visit to our Site. For example, Docusearch asks you for your name and email address if you wish to correspond with us.
  • Order Submission. When submitting an order, we ask you to provide personal financial information (in addition to personal information like name and address) over an encrypted connection, enabling you to purchase items online. In all cases, we will explicitly inform you as to the requirement and/or use of requested personal information. We use personally-identifying information from consumers in various ways, only to further consumer protection for the prevention of fraud.
  • Cookies. Many sites place a "cookie" in the browser files of your computer. Though normally considered harmless, it is our policy not use cookies.
  • No Release Of Information To Third Parties. Personal and financial information will not be released to third parties except to further the purpose for which you provide the information, such as requesting credit card authorization, or if release is required by law or is pertinent to judicial or governmental investigations or proceedings. There are no other circumstances under which we will provide or sell any information to third parties.
  • Your Search Is Completely Confidential. All search results are obtained completely legally, and are fully compliant to all applicable laws and statutes. Additionally, every search is "passive". This means that your subject will never be notified, informed or alerted that any search has been initiated or performed.

If at any time you believe Docusearch has not adhered to any of these principles, please notify us by email, and we will use all commercially reasonable efforts to promptly determine and correct the problem.
